Increase due to higher food and transportation prices
Qatar’s cost of living has risen by 0.2% in August since previous months based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) amid increased food and transportation rates, revealed figures by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
Figures also showed the country's annual CPI inflation rose 2.9% year-on-year, reported local media.
While the food and beverage segment increased 1.1% month-on-month in August 2016, it dropped 1.8% year on year.
The transport sector however saw a surge of 4.4% year on year during the same time period.
Housing, water, electricity and other fuel groups also rose 3.8% year on year in August 2016.
