Wage Protection System (WPS) had originally been scheduled to start this week
Qatar's plan to introduce a compulsory online wage payment system for low-income private sector workers has been pushed back to November 2, The Peninsula newspaper reported.
The Wage Protection System (WPS) had originally been scheduled to start this week but has been delayed as the government said the timeframe put in place for its implementation had been too short.
More than 50,000 private companies will take part in the WPS scheme. Sources said the banks were ready to implement the system: “We have all the necessary technical abilities as well the equipment and manpower in place to deal with the online workers’ salary payment system under the WPS,” a banking industry source was quoted as saying.
