Move comes after a battery glitch causes several units to explode
Qatar has recalled all Galaxy Note7 smartphones from its market over safety reasons regarding its battery, revealed the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
Officials said the move was coordinated with Samsung Electronics to protect consumers’ rights, reported Gulf Daily News.
They requested distributors and residents to halt the sale or use of the smartphone and contact local agents for a replacement of full refund.
It said Samsung’s agent in Qatar can be contacted through the hotline 8002255.
Sale of Samsung’s Galaxy Note7 was also suspended in the UAE and Saudi Arabia due to similar reasons.
Samsung officially halted the sales of its recent smartphone and recalled millions of units after users began posting photos on social media claiming faulty batteries caused some of the handheld devices to explode.
