Qtel campaign offers free landline connection

Qatar telecoms giant launches effort to increase phone coverage in Gulf state.

Telecommunications provider Qtel has launched a new campaign to offer a free fixed landline connection for every home in Qatar.

Under the initiative, which will run until February 28, 2009, Qtel will offer free connection and free rental fees for the first three months for any customer who wishes to install a new landline.

Adel Al Mutawa, executive director of Group Communications, said: “The new campaign to provide a fixed landline for people across Qatar reinforces our strategic intention to provide the highest standards of communication technology at the most affordable prices.

"We believe this new promotion provides the right balance of cost savings and quality of service that people will really benefit from.”

The total initial saving for customers taking advantage of the promotion is QR299, he added.

The direct savings for customers will be extended by Qtel’s long-standing practice of providing free landline-to-landline local calls, which positions Qatar as one of the few nations in the region to enjoy such a service.
