Qtel promotion aims to build broadband base

Qtel launches campaign to increase uptake of its consumer barQ ADSL service

Qtel has launched a new campaign to increase uptake of its barQ ADSL service.

The operator is offering a free ADSL WiFi Router and free connection for new subscribers to the service, saving QR 409 ($112).

The barQ service offers a monthly subscription plan for home consumer users, with connection speeds of 512 kbps up to 2 Mbps.

Adel Al Mutawa, executive director, Group Communications said: “Qtel is committed to providing the widest range of Internet technology to the whole community, and our research has demonstrated that wireless access is becoming increasingly important for home users.

“Having a wireless router enables kids to do their homework, parents to check their accounts and family members to send email, all from different rooms in the house. For this reason, Qtel has decided to make it more affordable and easier for our customers to get ADSL installed with a free Wi-Fi router,” he added.

The Wi-Fi router supplied with the service will offer ease of use, and compatibility, according to Qtel, and will also be compatible with Qtel’s Triple Play Service, Mozaic TV.
