As the founder of Quality Bio, an Italian producer of organic breads and pastries, Marco Sartor is keen to see his company's products enter new export markets. And for Sarto, one of the best ways of testing potential markets is to visit trade shows.
Most recently, Sarto, a regular at most of the world's organic foods exhibitions - from Bio-Fach in Germany to shows in Barcelona and Paris - attended the Middle East Natural & Organic Products Expo in Dubai.
Sarto is keen to see his company's products, which include tarts, biscuits, and bread products, some of which are free from ingredients such as sugar and animal fat, enter Lower Gulf markets such as the UAE.
"We are searching for a distributor at this event for the UAE. We have a lot of contacts in distribution here in Dubai and I hope to have co-operation with a company in Dubai.
"I think it is possible that we can get our products into markets such as the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain because we have seen that there are customers interested in this product in the region," he said.
Furthermore, Sarto is optimistic that Quality Bio will be successful in the Gulf, not least because the company gained a foothold in Jordan and Lebanon after meeting distributors at the 2005 edition of the event. He added that the event appeared to be bigger and better than the 2005 edition.
Quality Bio, which was established 10 years ago, also exports products to countries including to Spain, Germany, the UK, and France.
