France's Caroline Garcia was poised to serve for victory over third seed Carla Suarez Navarro when downpour began
Heavy rain and hail stones has forced a suspension in play at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Wednesday.
A heavy downpour arrived as France's Caroline Garcia was poised to serve for victory over third seed Carla Suarez Navarro.
With rain a rarity in Dubai, there are no covers on the tennis courts so staff will be out trying to dry up the court once the rain has stopped.
Earlier on Wednesday, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) forecast that rain is expected to fall in most parts of the UAE over the next two days.
The agency said showers are likely over Dubai and the Northern Emirates on Wednesday and Thursday, thanks to the effects of a low pressure system.
