A thunderstorm hit the UAE's Northern emirates Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al-Qaiwain and Sharjah with medium to heavy rain showers.

With already low temperatures and overcast skies due to an incoming low pressure system, forecasters predict yet more rain on Saturday, newswire WAM reported on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Gulf News daily reported that The Global Village will be closed on Saturday due to weather conditions.

According to Saeed Ali Bin Ridha, Executive Director of the Global Village the decision to close down the village for one day is because the entertainment in the location takes place in the open air, and the safety of people is also an important factor.

Global Village is one of Dubai's popular outdoor cultural entertainment and shopping venue.
