Rapid progress for Dubailand project

The ambitious Dubailand project is progressing rapidly, with work already underway at 24 "mega-projects" across the development, according to the project's senior officials.

The ambitious Dubailand project is progressing rapidly, with work already underway at 24 "mega-projects" across the development, according to the project's senior officials.

Chief executive Mohammad Al Habbai announced last month the 1700m² Dubailand headquarters was now open to the public, including multiple scale models of planned developments. One, at 300m², includes the entire Dubailand development. The sales office also features two Bengal tigers housed in a dedicated enclosure.

"We are very happy because we have reached, to date, a stage where most of our projects are advancing," Al Habbai said.

"Several projects we have commenced are up and running; the Global Village, the Plantation, and the Autodrome. Twenty four ‘mega-projects' have been sold. We are targeting [them] to be finished in three to four years, but, you know, the project is huge.

"Most of our 24 projects have already been contracted and the construction companies are already on site working."

While conceding that some of the projects were still "conceptual", Al Habbai said details of more projects would be announced soon.

But despite the large number of attractions the finished development would offer, the project had been designed so attractions would not compete with each other for tourists. "We are making sure that nothing will take away from the other [developments]," he said. "I am sure that they will complement each other."
