Refad Hotels debut in the Middle East

Refad Hotels and Resorts is the latest entrant on the burgeoning Middle East hospitality market.

Refad Hotels and Resorts is the latest entrant on the burgeoning Middle East hospitality market.

The group has one hotel each in Macedonia, Kuwait and Yugoslavia with several others under construction and in the pipeline. Headed by Antoine Yazbek, formerly of the InterContinental and Sheraton, the company has its corporate offices in Kuwait, England and Holland.

It operates different brands in its portfolio like The Monarch (350 rooms), Refad Palace (all suites), Refad Residence (28 apartments), The Square (all suites), and ‘Four Stars’ hotels.

“We will open a 350 room Monarch hotel in Kuwait in 2007 and an all suite Refad Palace, also in Kuwait in 2006. We currently own all our properties but we want to grow quickly in the Middle East and Europe, through owning, part owning, operating directly, leasing and franchising. To stimulate this we will offer the first 10 owners who use our services, discounted management fees,” a company official told Hotelier Middle East.

The chain intends to grow from five to 25 properties over the next few years.
