Region's cyber athletes prove to be game for a laugh

Samsung Cyber Challenge Dubai 2003 is proving to be a winner amongst gaming fans, with 256 teams signed up across the region.

The Samsung Cyber Challenge Dubai 2003 has received a tremendous response from the regional gaming community and has registered 256 teams for this online gaming event. The tournament is being held through an alliance with Emirates Internet and Multimedia’s (EIM) www.mplayer-arabia.com, the region’s premier online gaming site. With the finals to take place in the centre court of Deira City Centre shopping mall between February 4th and 7th. KS Vasudevan, senior manager, Samsung Digital Information Technology Division, said: “E-sports are already gaining interest in most parts of the world, and through this competition, our endeavour is to transform the local cyber gaming industry into a regular e-sporting fixture. The Samsung Cyber Challenge Dubai 2003 will be a regular annual event alongside the Dubai Shopping Festival” The Cyber Challenge will take place online every day at www.mplayer-arabia.com, from 4pm until 11pm. The event began on January the 26th, and will conclude during the first week of February. Online games will be played between two teams with four players on each side and is open to players above the age of 15. The tournament is also free to all participants.
