The bodies of UAE soldiers who died while fighting Houthi rebels in Yemen last week have been returned to the country, the state news agency has reported.

The bodies arrived at the Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi, after being identified in Saudi Arabia.

The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces announced that a total of 52 UAE soldiers were martyred last Friday in Yemen.

A special military ceremony was held to receive the bodies of the soldiers at the airport.

A number of senior Armed Forces officers attended the event, WAM reported.
