A dossier outlining plans for a Gulf union are to be presented at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit in Bahrain next month, according to a Bahraini government official.

Ghanim bin Fadhel Al Buainain, minister for Bahrain’s Shura Council and House of Representatives affairs, said the GCC union dossier will be presented at the next summit, Bahrain News Agency reported.

He criticised newspapers for lacking accuracy in reporting a previous statement on the GCC union, stating he had never said a GCC union would be formed without Oman, as reported by several media outlets.

Oman has previously expressed reservations about the proposal – it rejected the idea when discussed in December 2013.
