Union Coop, the consumer cooperative operating in Dubai, has announced tenders for two new commercial centres Warqa’a Mall and Jumeirah First - Al Bada’a, worth a total of AED295 million ($80 million).
The retailer also said two new Union Coop branches in Nad Al Sheba and Palm Jumeirah are set to open later this year.
The announcement falls in line with Union Coop’s strategic objectives of rapid expansion to establish modern shopping centres, state news agency WAM reported.

She said the Al Warqa’a project will be spread over 160,000 sq ft with an estimated cost of AED250 million and will include two underground parking lots and a Union Coop hypermarket on the first floor while the second floor will be the head office of Union Coop.
The project is expected to be completed by December 2019 and will serve Al Warqa’a and areas in proximity such as Mirdif, Rashidiya and Nad Al Hammar.
The Jumeirah First Project will include a new Union Coop branch and will cater to the areas of Al Bad’a, Jumeirah First, Jumeirah Second and surrounding areas. With a total building area of 100,000 sq ft, the approximate cost of the project is AED45 million, she added. For all the latest retail news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
