Chalhoub Group co-CEO Anthony Chalhoub has died in Paris at the age of 63.

Chalhoub Group co-CEO Anthony Chalhoub has died in Paris at the age of 63 after battling cancer for several years, the company has announced.

The Chalhoub Group is the largest retail operator in the Middle East, and around the world has over 12,000 employees and a presence in 14 countries, operating over 600 outlets for brands including Louis Vuitton and Dior.

At the time Chalhob joined the company – which was founded by his parents in 1975 – it had only 30 employees. He was also the co-founder of the Middle East and Africa Duty Free Association and served as its president between 2007 and 2011.

In an Instagram post, Chalhoub Group Talent said that Anthony “was an extraordinary man and a fearless leader driven by passion and determination.”

“We will always remember his humanitarian spirit, honesty, humility and kindness,” the post added. “We will continue to live by his legacy and values forever.”

In a separate statement quoted by the Fashion Network, Chalhoub Group said that Anthony “was an exceptional fearless leader, driven by his passion and determination.”

“Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know him have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor,” the statement said. “We will continue to live by his legacy and values.”
