The opening day this year’s Dubai Summer Surprises on June 21 will see outlets offerings discounts of up to 90 percent, according to the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment.
In an interview with Gulf News, Sahaila Saqer Obaid Ghubash, the DFRE’s director of festivals and events, said that the event is likely to increase consumer spending through discounts at fashion and retail outlets in the city.
“There will be weekly surprises too and on occasions, in addition to daily discounts start from a minimum 25 per cent going all the way up to 75 per cent, retail outlets will offer additional discounts 24 hours prior in Dubai malls,” she said.
Contrary to popular belief, Ghubash said that DFRE has actually seen retail sales pick up in the summer months.
“Whether it is fashion, electronics of homeware, the demand is high,” she added.
Over the six weeks of DSS, more than 300 brands will participate in more than 3,500 outlets, giving shoppers discounts of 25 to 75 percent.
In addition to sales across the city, shoppers will receive exclusive offers on a specific product at a select location each day as part of the DSS ‘deal of the day’.
“DSS has a positive impact on Dubai’s retail sector, with participating malls becoming a magnet for families seeking rewarding summer shopping experiences, whilst giving their children plenty of ways to keep themselves engaged in fun and entertainment activities,” Ghubash added. For all the latest retail news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
