Volkswagen has appointed a new managing director to lead its Middle East operations from the automotive manufacturer’s regional headquarters in the UAE.

Victor Dalmau joins Volkswagen Middle East from the Sao Paulo operation in Brazil, where he led the brand as Volkswagen managing director for Latin America.

Prior to joining Volkswagen Middle East, he led the successful relaunch of the brand in Latin America, increasing the product portfolio in the market.

Dalmau said: “Despite the current challenging marketplace, the Middle East region offers a great deal of new opportunities and there is still a clear sense of drive and energy amongst both our business partners and consumers.

“My focus is to build on the foundations already established, and continue to offer an exciting and diverse product range for customers in this market. Technology is at the heart of our brand, from the innovation in our vehicles to the digitalization of our business, and this will be a focus in terms of further strengthening our customer relations, driver experience and servicing.”

Based in the UAE, Dalmau will be responsible for all markets in the Gulf as well as Jordan and Lebanon.
