Dubai Festival City Mall set for major upgrade

Works announced after completion of $408m expansion programme

Dubai Festival City Mall set for major upgrade
Dubai Festival City Mall has introduced 50 percent more seating through furniture instalments.

Dubai Festival City Mall is to receive a major upgrade.

UAE developer Al-Futtaim Real Estate, which is part of the Dubai-based Al-Futtaim Group, has revealed plans that include design enhancements of Festival Bay; parking expansion with improved navigation, lighting, and VIP valet services; the removal of obstructive structures to improve sightlines into the mall interiors; addition of glass railings; and shop-front enhancements inside the mall.

It comes following the completion of a $408m (AED1.5bn) expansion programme that began in December 2016.

Timothy Earnest, group director of Al-Futtaim Malls, said: “Over the coming year, we will continue to select the best brands in retail to be part of our development, and we will be introducing unique family entertainment concepts that complement our expansive dining and retail mix.

“One unique proposition of the mall, which will be receiving the biggest overhaul, is the Imagine show.

"The investment will provide enhanced show features, and improved sound, laser, and lighting features, in preparation for the launch of their fourth show in October 2019, set to be biggest and best yet. The Bay itself will also receive façade enhancements, including improved event lighting and LED screens that create a 'dwell' environment for bay visitors.”

Dubai Festival City Mall has introduced 50 percent more seating through furniture instalments, which will provide USB ports, chargers, and access to the mall’s WiFi.

The upgrades will complete in time for Expo 2020 Dubai.
