Festival Plaza store, to open in December, will feature the world's tallest navigation tower, says anchor tenant IKEA
Al-Futtaim’s urban community mall, Festival Plaza, has announced that when it opens in December, it will house the tallest navigation tower from anchor tenant IKEA.
Standing at 70m, the navigation tower, which has become a signature emblem of IKEA’s around the world, will be the retail brand's tallest in the world.
Once open, the IKEA store will be the biggest in the UAE and joins two others in Dubai Festival City Mall and Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi.
Spread over a huge 32,500 square metres, the store will have an added focus on sustainability and an international training centre for IKEA employees, a statement said.
Timothy Earnest, group director of Al-Futtaim Malls, said: “Festival Plaza truly embodies the Festival City brand of celebration and it certainly was a cause for celebration to reveal this landmark achievement for IKEA.”
IKEA will be joined by other flagship tenants including M&S and Lulu Hypermarket, as well as 120 shops, and complimented by a 500-seat food court, over 40 dining and eating options, a Stay and Play offering, family entertainment Kids Club and over 2,300 parking spaces.
Vinod Jayan, managing director for IKEA UAE, Egypt and Oman, said: "We are very excited to make UAE home to the world’s tallest IKEA navigation tower. The free-standing navigation tower is a highly visible asset for the brand."
