Nisnass team to be relocated to join its older, more successful sibling, Ounass
After just over two years in operations, Al Tayer's online fashion retail business, Nisnass, is to close.
Al Tayer Group's retail business, Al Tayer Insignia, launched the ecommerce platform in January 2018 in a bid to target millennials with the lure of brands like Nike, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger. It even offered a two-hour delivery service within Dubai.
In a letter sent to partners, seen by Arabian Business, Khalid Al Tayer, managing director and chief executive officer - digital, Ounass and Nisnass, confirmed that the business is to cease operations.
He said: "As with many start-ups, we are continuously review our trajectory and focus our resources towards achieving our mission in the most effective way. It is with this perspective that we took the difficult decision to discontinue Nisnass and redirect our talent, absolute focus and resources to accelerate the successful growth of Ounass."
The Nisnass team is likely to be relocated to join its older, more successful sibling, Ounass, Al Tayer Insignia's premier luxury website.
The last day of trading is expected to be June 30.
Dubai-based Al Tayer Group, one of the UAE's biggest family-owned conglomerates, works across multiple sectors including retail, automotive, real estate and more. It was set up in 1979 and operates in six countries across the Middle East, with nearly 200 stores and 23 showrooms, and employing around 9,000 people, according to the company's website.
