Online groceries distributor planning further recruitment in order to satisfy increasing demand
Dubai-based online groceries distributor Kibsons has created 400 new jobs since March as the company strives to meet the increased demand caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The business has also revealed plans are in place to boost the workforce further in order to satisfy the huge number of orders being received.
Searches related to ‘online grocery’ in the UAE spiked 560 percent between January and March 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to research from digital marketing platform SEMrush.
The demand saw Kibsons’ same day and next day delivery promise pushed to five and seven days.
However, while some businesses have been forced to make staff redundant, cut wages or even enforce unpaid leave, according to the company, Kibsons employees have not only received a pay rise, but also a 40 percent bonus in addition to benefits for the overtime hours worked.
While over AED100,000 per month has been received in tips, which has been distributed directly to staff.
In November, Kibsons expanded into a new 130,000 square foot head office and cold storage warehouse in Dubai.
