Food retailer announces plans for new openings in Fujairah and Bahrain after launching eighth outlet in GCC in Dubai
Géant, the fifth largest hypermarket chain in the world and a dominant brand in the food retail sector in the Middle East, has announced plans for new openings in Fujairah and Bahrain in the coming months.
The pipeline of new store was revealed as the retailer opened its eighth hypermarket in the GCC in Dubai to serve communities including Mirdif, Silicon Oasis and International City in addition to Al Warqa, Nad Al Hammar, Al Rashidiya.
Géant operates four formats - the hypermarket, supermarket, neighbourhood and city store and opened its first GCC store in Bahrain in 2001 with the first Géant Hypermarket opening in Dubai in 2005.
The retailer said it has increased its market share with steady growth year on year over the past decade, increasing its number of stores across the region.
Speaking about the new store launch in Dragon Mart 2, Mark Anthony Lack, chief operating officer, Géant Middle East said: "Our journey with the Géant brand has reached an important milestone today with the launch of our fourth Hypermarket in the UAE.
"This is a key growth market for Géant and we have invested heavily to ensure that we are present in the right locations, with the right people at the helm, trained in the correct way to deal with our large customer base and given opportunities themselves for growth and development."
The Géant Hypermarket in Dragon Mart 2 will feature over 65,000 products including daily deliveries of fresh fruit and vegetables from local and international producers.
