She might be an Olympic swimmer now, but Jasmine Al Khaldi reportedly nearly drowned during her first experience swimming in a pool. So her parents enrolled her in swimming classes. Years later, she has represented the Philippines in the most elite sports event in the world, winning several bronze medals. After her participation in the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Al Khaldi, who was born to a Saudi Arabian father and Philipino mother, gained major support from Arab fans on social media, particularly in Saudi Arabia. The swimmer also holds the Philippine record for the 100-metre and 50-metre butterfly. She is now studying at the University of Hawaii.
