The most popular cosmetic procedures in the Middle East in 2016 are liposuction (46 percent), breast surgery (18 percent), abdominoplasty (15 percent), and rhinoplasty (10 percent), according to a report by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital (AACSH) in the region.
Abdominoplasty has moved up the list from third to second place since last year. The procedure involves the removal of excess skin around the abdomen. It shot to popularity due to increased influence from social media celebrities posting defined stomachs muscles, states the report.
It also revealed that patients are increasingly looking to new technologies for traditional treatments, such as the use of Stem Cell Technology where patients can harvest their body cells to use for future procedures such as breast augmentation.
As for non-invasive procedures, Botox and fillers (53 percent) remain in the top spots followed by body contouring (17 percent), skin rejuvenation with platelet rich plasma (14 percent), facelift and rejuvenation (9 percent), and fat reduction (6 percent). For all the latest health and fitness news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
