Review: Caviar hair treatment in Dubai

Most of us enjoy the pricey delicacy with bread and butter. Now, we can enjoy it on our hair

Review: Caviar hair treatment in Dubai

The most important thing you need to know about the Caviar hair treatment is that it works. Two weeks after I tried it, the effect is still there. But I won’t get ahead of myself. Read on to find out exactly what it is, what it promises to do to your locks, and where to get it done in Dubai.

What is it?

The whole treatment is based on Kerastase’s caviar collection, which includes a conditioning mask that’s mixed with actual caviar.

Why is caviar good for your hair?

It’s pretty simple. It contains vitamins and minerals intended to nourish the unborn fish. These include Vitamin A, which prevents your hair from dying out and breaking out, Vitamin D, which prevents hair loss, and omega-3 fatty acids, which help keep your hair moisturised.

What does it promise?

It promises to moisturise your hair from roots to ends and make it stronger and appear shinier. While it’s recommended for dyed, damaged, and dry hair, it also works on healthy hair because it helps maintain it.

What is the process?

I arrived at the Nicolas and Jean beauty salon in Media One hotel (more about this must-try salon later) where Samer, one of the main hairdressers, explained the process thoroughly. I was escorted to a separate washroom where my hair was washed, conditioned, massaged (ask for Jenny, her head massage is amazing), brushed, and then covered, from scalp to ends, with the mask.

Then, I was escorted to the main room where my hair was wrapped in tin foil and placed under a hooded steamer for 20 minutes – the mask works best when placed under heat – before it was rinsed and given a blow dry.

What is the result?

I felt the effect of the mask after it was rinsed, simply because my hair is long and tangles very quickly. After the mask, it brushed very easily. After the blow dry, not only did it look really shiny, but it felt smooth and soft when I ran my fingers through it.

The bottom line is, if you want a hair treatment that really works – no exaggeration, this is the one you should try. Samer recommends getting it done every month and a half or every two months. I agree – after all, why would you mind slathering your hair with caviar? If Catherine Zeta Jones does it, why shouldn’t you?

Where to get it done?

If you want an upscale, luxuriously-decorated salon with tons of talking hairstylists, don’t go to Nicolas and Jean. If you want to get your hair done fast and fabulous, then it’s the choice for you. You won’t find excessively decorated walls or fancy washrooms here. But, when you go to get your hair done, you don’t go for the décor - you go for the service; something Nicolas and Jean undoubtedly excels at.

The staff is professional, informative, and most importantly, talented - just make sure to book your appointment in advance, the salon was fully booked on a Wednesday.

What is the price?

At Nicolas and Jean, the treatment starts at AED250 ($68) and the blow dry starts at AED110 depending on the length of the hair.
