Is this 90-minute treatment your pre-beach solution? We find out ...
We could all use a little body toning in summer, when most weekends are spent lying on the beach. So when we heard of the Full Monty tightening treatment at SensAsia Urban Spa, we had to give it a try. The 90-minute treatment uses organic product line Mio Skincare to target cellulite-prone areas such as the hips, upper arms, chest and stomach.
We head to the spa’s modest and cosy Palm Jumeirah branch, where we are greeted by friendly staff, serene music and a cup of sweet and sour hibiscus tea. We change into an extra soft robe – it’s the small details that make the difference – and are guided to our treatment room, where our therapist Anna thoroughly explains the process.
We lie on the massage table and Anna started with strong and swift exfoliation on our legs, back, arms and stomach in order to remove as many dead skin cells as possible. We experience a tingling sensation, but no discomfort. This is followed by powerful massage techniques using essential oils such as safflower seed, jojoba seed and sweet almond in order to radically activate circulation and help get rid of cellulite. This part is slightly unpleasant at times, but not painful.
Following the massage, we are covered with a rubberised algae mask that comprises fat melting ingredient laminara digitata and circulation-booster horsetail extract. The treatment finishes with a deep tissue massage which is just as powerful as the initial one.
Post-treatment, we notice an obvious decrease in cellulite in our thighs and a much firmer stomach and waist area. We feel much more flexible following the treatment, which really helps with blood circulation. Another lovely touch in the spa is the sweet ginger tea with fresh ginger slices served in the turquoise-themed relaxation room.
We recommend getting the treatment pre-event or beach weekend for a more toned-looking body. Several sessions of The Full Monty, which costs AED 750 per visit, are recommended for long-term results. For all the latest health and fitness news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
