Review: Muze Restaurant and Lounge

A must-try for lovers of Jazz & Soul music

Review: Muze Restaurant and Lounge

You don’t find a lot of places in Dubai where you can enjoy great live music in a laid-back yet high-end venue, which is why intimate restaurant and lounge Muze is our new obsession.

Located in Souk Al Bahar Downtown Dubai, the venue has a care-free atmosphere that makes it stand out from overly-dressy outlets in the city. Boasting quirky furniture like floral high-chairs and vintage wallpaper, it is undoubtedly unique in décor.

In the centre stands the best part – the live singing stage. While the live acts cover a number of genres, our favourite is the Jazz & Soul night on Friday, performed by singer Rouba. Sweet-sounding with a touch of Beyoncé, she sang old classics like The Fugees’ Killing Me Softly and Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry with a twist of Jazz.

And while Muze’s kitchen is limited, we did not mind - the food is absolutely delicious.

Because the venue is more about entertainment than dining, it serves generously-sized portions. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip served with corn chips - a heavenly combination of creamy and crunchy, Angus Burgers – meat so tender it melted in our mouths, and chicken quesadillas – fresh-tasting and better than most we have had in the city.

The dessert menu comprises of a single platter of three desserts. Our favourite? The banana empanada – soft, slightly sweet, and simply delicious.

The staff? They never stand still – always tending to or serving – yet are always on standby when you need them.
