Roadster hits expansion fast lane

United Restaurant Development fights off strong competition for rights to Lebanon's Roadster diners in the UAE.

UAE-based United Restaurant Development (URD) has won the rights to Lebanon's famed Roadster diner.

This will be the brand's first step into international markets, and URD plans to open 10 outlets in the UAE over the next five years.

First established in 2001, United Restaurant Development represents top franchises such as Cinnabon, Seattle's Best Coffee and Zaatar W Zeit and successfully conquered stiff competition from other established regional players to acquire the UAE franchise of Roadster diner.

The agreement was signed between Walid Hajj, CEO of United Restaurant Development Company and Samer Chehlaoui, managing partner of Roadster diner.

The first Roadster diner will open in Dubai's prestigious Jumeirah district.

"We are extremely honoured to add Roadster diner to our fast-growing portfolio of unique restaurants," said Hajj.

"Roadster diner fits in perfectly with our existing brands, our company culture and our recently expanded corporate operational infrastructure. We plan to aggressively grow the brand across the country in both leading shopping mall locations and other high-traffic venues ."

Founded in 1998, Roadster diner has emerged as Lebanon's premier casual dining chain and now operates eight outlets in the country. The menu offering includes delicious appetisers, burgers, desserts and much more featuring the best casual dining experience.

"Roadster diner gives us greater access to the premium end of the market and brings to our business further operational expertise," said Hajj."

The development will further consolidate the group's portfolio as a leading provider of freshly prepared high-quality food in the UAE."

Chehlaoui said the partnership was an excellent opportunity for Roadster diner to capitalise on URD's strong reputation and the UAE as a springboard for global dominance.

"We are keen to accelerate our business expansion and are delighted to have found a partner who recognizes our business philosophy," he said.
