Russian biometric identification solutions provider Papillon Systems is demonstrating a number of new fingerprint and palmprint scanners at GITEX Technology Week this year, in conjunction with the giant Dubai-based systems integrator, Global Information Technology.

Papillon works closely with the Russian Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Justice, and all its products strictly comply with international standards that are either in force at present, or are being developed.

Papillon is also showcasing its automated firearms identification system, Papillon BS-7.00.3 USB, which provides more effective and efficient methods of identification for ballistics experts.

This technology captures bullet cartridge case head images using lighting in sectors, which makes characteristic marks look more legible than they are when captured by the more traditional method of ring lighting.

"Our biometric identification systems can be adapted for various civil applications, including the production and use of biometric identity cards, physical access control at border crossings, information access and a number of other forms of different access control," explains George Bondarenko, project manager for Papillon Systems.
