Sabre launches commission manager tool

Sabre Travel Network has launched the Sabre Worldwide Commission Manager (SWCM) system, to help hotels and agents manage booking commissions more effectively.

Sabre Travel Network has launched the Sabre Worldwide Commission Manager (SWCM) system, to help hotels and agents manage booking commissions more effectively.

SWCM will be available to hotel operators worldwide, giving them the means to track commission payments to travel agencies globally, while enabling agents to track, manage and claim commissions easily.

“Managing commissions and dealing with payment enquiries has been one of the biggest booking bug-bears facing both travel agencies and hotel operators,” said Richard Adams, senior vice-president for the EMEA region, Sabre Travel Network. “By providing this solution we hope to ease the situation for all concerned, to stimulate travel agencies to boost the number of hotel bookings they make on the GDS, and so make Sabre a preferred distribution method for hotels.”

Until now, the absence of an industry-wide standard had prevented technology providers from developing products to do this effectively, he added.

The technology is available to more than 76,000 hotels and the global network of agents that use the Sabre global distribution system (GDS).

Hotel chains and independent properties that use the tool will receive regular updates about their commission status.

Sabre Travel Network will export all booking information such as reservation numbers, checkin and checkout dates, rates and commissions to SWCM monthly.

Travel agencies will be able to track their commission status online through a summary.
