Safety first for attractions industry professionals

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) will hold the first IAAPA Middle East Safety Conference this month.

The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) will hold the first IAAPA Middle East Safety Conference this month.

Held at Le Meridien Dubai Hotel in Dubai, UAE on February 27-28, it is aimed at operators, developers, suppliers and government officials interested in promoting safety in the developing attractions industry in the Middle East, South Asia and North Africa.

The conference will provide a combination of lecture, roundtable and networking opportunities aimed at teaching delegates the best safety practices in the amusements and attractions industry.

Topics will include the present state of the international producer/user/regulator environment and safety in ride design, standards and testing.

Featured speakers are Darrell Metzger, CEO, Ruwaad Destinations; Steve Blum, senior vice president of safety and engineering for Universal Creative, Universal Parks and Resorts; Jim Seay, president of Premier Rides; and Randy Davis, vice president of government relations and services for IAAPA.
