Salam secures Canon printer rights in Qatar

Salam Studio & Stores to distribute Canon printer and imaging range in Qatar

Canon has moved to strengthen the distribution of its products in Qatar by awarding local partner Salam Studio & Stores the right to carry its printing and imaging line-up. Salam already distributes photo and video equipment from Canon.

The vendor believes that extending its relationship with Salam will allow it to tap into a customer base already familiar with the Canon brand.

“Over the years our partnership with Salam Studio & Stores has laid a solid foundation in developing strong retail channels for our photo and video segment,” said Venkatasubramanian Hariharan, sales manager for the GCC at Canon Middle East’s Consumer Imaging division.

“We see an excellent opportunity for the transfer of this knowledge to our Office Personal Products (OPP) line-up in Qatar enabling Salam Studio & Stores to offer customers a complete Canon imaging solution,” added Hariharan.

The extension of the contract does not impact sister company Salam Technical’s partnership with Canon. It presently serves as a partner for direct and corporate sales of professional print products and solutions.

Canon recently hosted a partner gathering in Doha where it also announced the widening of its printer line-up to include 14 new products in its Laser i-SENSYS range, nine Inkjet Pixma printers and three new scanners.

“The laser category is a fiercely competitive segment and one which we are confident has the potential for significant growth,” said Bittu Mattam, product manager at Canon Middle East. “Canon’s new i-SENSYS laser range reveals a totally new and expanded colour multi function line-up and a full range of mono MFPs which will strengthen Canon’s position in this segment.”
