Samsung make Didier Drogba brand ambassador for new phone

Chelsea footballer Didier Drogba announced as brand ambassador for new J700 mobile

Samsung has announced that Chelsea footballer Didier Drogba as the brand ambassador for its new J700 mobile phone.

Drogba joins a growing line up of brand ambassadors for Samsung's consumer devices, that includes Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, Indian sports shooter Manavjit Singh Sandhu and singers Beyonce Knowles and Elissa.

Sandeep Saighal, general manager of hand held phones at Samsung Gulf Electronics commented: "We are thrilled to be working with an internationally acclaimed football star such as Didier Drogba. Football sponsorships are the foundation of Samsung's corporate citizenship. It is derived from the belief that sport unites people of all ages, genders and races. As a company, Samsung Electronics has constantly showed support for several global and regional sporting events, such as the African Cup of Nations-Ghana 2008, Asian Football Confederation, and Chelsea Football Club."

The J700 is a slider phone, with slim, 14.7mm design and a 2 inch, 65k colours screen. The phone includes 1.3 megapixel camera, FM radio and MP3 player.
