Sandstorm closes Kuwait port
KPO said visibility had dropped to below one mile due to a sandstorm hitting the country.

Kuwait Ports Authority (KPO) announced on Thursday it has suspended activity at Shuwaikh port due to a lack of visibility, the state news agency reported.

KPO said visibility had dropped to below one mile due to a sandstorm hitting the country.

In a press statement, Director of Marine Operations at Shuwaikh Port, Suleiman Al-Yahiya said the suspension of the movement of vessels from and the port was necessary for the safety of ships and piers.

The navigation will resume once the weather improves, he said.

Al-Yahiya revealed that three vessels were denied access to the port and two container ships were prevented from leaving due to these conditions.
