SAP outlines solution deployment standards

German vendor SAP is aiming to make it easier for firms to deploy its software with the release of 16 standardised ‘best-practice' processes for solution operations.

German vendor SAP is aiming to make it easier for firms to deploy its software with the release of 16 standardised ‘best-practice' processes for solution operations.

The standards are contained in the next release of SAP Solution Manager, the company's application management product. This is scheduled for global availability at SAP's Sapphire international customer conference, to be held this month in Atlanta, US.

The firm said that the 16 standards contain best-practice procedures for both business and IT departments; each standard shows how to run individual tasks, training and services needed, and explanations on which tools inside SAP Solution Manager should be used.

"SAP standards for solution operations provide detailed information and guidance on implementing mission-critical operations," said Uwe Hommel, executive vice president of SAP Active Global Support.

"By making this knowledge available via SAP Solution Manager, we help our customers avoid errors, mitigate risks, increase the availability and performance of their SAP solutions," Hommel added.

SAP is also introducing SAP Solution Support Enablement, a pre-configured package based on its own experience.
