Qatari business conglomerate Salam International Investment has awarded the contract for its new Oracle implementation project to Dubai-based IT consulting firm Satyam Computer Services. The project spans a number of Oracle modules, including Financial and Business Intelligence and will provide Salam's top management with a detailed overview of the group's financials and operations.

Hussam Abdul Salam Abu Issa, vice chairman and COO of Salam International, said that the project would enhance Salam International's business processes and provide better business information for effective decision-making.

"The introduction of advanced technology into Salam International's operations is a key part of the company's corporate strategy. Satyam was chosen as our partner for the Oracle implementation project for excelling in competence and past experience in this field globally and especially in the Middle East," said Issa.

"The solution will help the senior management at Salam have a single view of the data with usage of innovative dashboards thereby improving their decision-making process. We look forward to working with them as partners in this initiative and are committed to delivering value to their group and to Qatar as a region," said Virender Aggarwal, Satyam's director and senior vice president for Asia Pacific, Middle-East, India and Africa.

The project, covering all of Salam's Qatari subsidiaries, is expected to be complete within 18 months.
