Saudi Aramco has awarded deals to South Korean firms SK Engineering and Samsung Engineering to build the kingdom's largest gas plant Wasit, Aramco said in a statement on Tuesday.

Industry sources said last week that South Korean firms were leading the race to build the plant, which would be designed to process 2.5 billion cubic feet per day (cfd) of gas from the offshore non-associated sour gas fields Arabiyah and Hasbah when completed in 2014.
