The Saudi index TASI dropped 3.7 percent in early trading after turmoil hit global markets on Friday and a fall in oil prices to below $80 a barrel.
The petrochemicals index dropped 4.9 percent while the all-share index declines to around 6,565 points.
Petrochemicals giant Saudi Basic Industries Corp lost 3.6 percent and Saudi Fertilizers Co fell 3 percent.
