A Saudi Arabian Airlines flight at the weekend was forced to return to Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport 40 minutes after takeoff due to a fire reported in the cabin.

Saudia Flight SV1905 was on its way to Taif when smoke appeared in the cabin due to a fire in one of the ovens in the aircraft’s rear pantry, the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) was quoted as saying the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The crew managed to bring the fire under control but the captain decided to return to Riyadh airport as a safety precaution.
