Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah has sent an invite to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to attend an emergency Islamic summit in Makkah on August 14-15, it was reported on Sunday.

Saudi Ambassador to Iran Muhammad Al-Kilabi delivered the invitation to Rahim Mashani, director of Ahmadinejad’s office, on Saturday during a meeting in Tehran, Arab News reported.

“We have made all arrangements to make this summit a big success,” Muhammad bin Ahmed Tayeb, director general of the Foreign Ministry’s office in Mekkah province, was quoted as saying in the report.

Invitations to the summit have been sent to all the leaders of the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to attend the conference.

“Strengthening the unity and solidarity of the Islamic Ummah is the summit’s main agenda,” Tayeb added.

OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said the situation in Syria and the plight of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar would be the main topics on the agenda.

Salaam
Excellent,well done HRH King Abdullah it is time to not just unite Iran but all Muslim nations.
For too long have the Muslim nations been divided and ruled/influenced by others.
Be united will give the ummah the strength we require in today's world.
A few thoughts;
One currency- gold dinar
A Muslim organisation powerful politically,financially and economically-similar to the EU!
No travel/visa restrictions between Muslim states.
One Halal board.....
We the Muslim ummah have all the resources to achieve the bove and a lot more..... Inshala.

You are to talk about syrian crisis but you dont allow them to take part by premature suspension though you did it through voting but who are you to vote for others. It would better if both sides in the syrian crisis are allowed to present their cases if they (opposition) is really led by someone worth recognition. I am afraid many of our heads are listening to their non muslim associates rather than their muslim brothers. They must be daring enough to exclude the israeli and american intervention in their affairs, they are not fit to come as observers.
