A Saudi man claims he was “officially married” five years ago, without his knowledge.

Mohammad Al Jafali told the Saudi Gazette he discovered the administrative error when he attempted to have his fiancé added to his family identity card at the Civil Affairs office in Riyadh.

Al Jafali said he was able to prove he had not been married.

The head of the Civil Affairs office reportedly said the employee responsible for the mistake would be reprimanded.
