Shoura Council has urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to allow businessmen to visit the kingdom without sponsorship from a citizen
Saudi Arabia’s Shoura Council has called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to allow proven businessmen to visit the kingdom without sponsorship from a citizen in a bid to attract more foreign investment.
The council, which advises the king on legislation and policy but has no power to implement changes, also urged the ministry to coordinate with the Council of Saudi Chambers to conduct regular studies on the degree of satisfaction among business visa holders, Arab News reported.
Recording data on their experience, including grievances or suggestions, would help the kingdom improve its business dealings and attractiveness, the council heard.
Presently, any foreigner visiting Saudi Arabia must be invited by a Saudi national, who acts as their sponsor. Visas are known to be difficult to obtain.
