Two Saudi security officers were injured in a bomb blast in the Eastern Province city of Qatif.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced that the two men were hurt while they were on duty on Monday.

The Saudi Press Agency quoted a security spokesman of the ministry as saying that the patrol was operating near the roundabout of Al-Rif neighborhood in Al-Awamiya, Qatif Governorate, and the blast resulted in the injury of two security men who were taken to hospital.

"The security authorities have begun investigation into that terrorist crime which is still under security follow-up," the spokesman added without giving any further details in the statement, cited by news agency WAM.
