Riyadh-based journalist has been sentenced to three months, jail, 50 lashes for “defaming” two soccer club presidents
A Saudi sports journalist has been sentenced to three months’ jail and 50 lashes and given a SR5000 ($1,333) fine for defaming two soccer club presidents, Arab News reported.
Mohammad Shanwan Al Inizi was found guilty of verbally abusing Al Hilal and Al Shabbab on Twitter in comments that suggested they were involved in corruption.
Al Inizi has said he would appeal the court’s preliminary finding.
