Saudi WEC issues RFP

The Saudi Water and Electricity Company (WEC) has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for its independent power and water project (IWPP) at Ras Az Zawr.

The Saudi Water and Electricity Company (WEC) has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for its independent power and water project (IWPP) at Ras Az Zawr.

The call was made on 15 June, as scheduled, but the bid submission date has now been put back to 10 February 2008. The original deadline for bids was 15 January.

Bidders including the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company, ACWA Power Projects, the Marubeni Corporation and International Power were named by the WEC as unconditionally prequalified at the end of May.

The US $3 billion project will add 1 million m³ of water per day and up to 1100 MW of power when operational in June 2012.
