Silicon Graphics has been showcasing its range of interactive television solutions to executives from the hospitality, education, telecommunications and property development sectors.
Silicon Graphics (SGI) has concluded a series of showcases of Interactive Television solutions in Dubai.
The company has been promoting its range of high-speed video servers to companies operating in hospitality, education, telecommunications and property development.
With Interactive TV, viewers can watch what they like, when they like. Video on demand services are the most popular implementation. Peter Gebara, regional business development manager for SGI in Dubai explained: "Interactive TV is a concept that has been accepted in the Middle East region as being the future of communications for the converging media of entertainment, education, and commerce,” he said. “In hotels, universities, and newly developed properties, interactive media have been introduced as standard; it’s what consumers in the Middle East are demanding even today."
The service requires high bandwith connectivity, which is gradually being introduced in the region, and also high-speed video servers, such as those made by SGI, which have the processing power and storage to instantly download video on demand.
