Wilson Associates and Brian Chan to do interior design.
Hotelier Shangri-La will open two new hotels in 2011 in Shanghai's new Jing An Kerry Centre - a new business, retail, entertainment and conference complex.
New York-based Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates has been named as architect, while Wilson Associates Singapore and Hong Kong-based Brian Chan are to do the interior design.
Jing An Shangri-La Shanghai will occupy the top 24 floors of a 58-storey, Grade A building with the lower floors comprising restaurants, cafes and retail shops. "We are still very early on in the concept design phase so we can't reveal too much about the interior design but the hotel will include 347 guestrooms and a number of different restaurants. There will also be the group's signature spa brand, CHI," explained Freddie Balatbat, senior designer, Wilson Associates Singapore.
The group's second hotel will be modeled on its contemporary Kerry Centre Hotel in Beijing. It will feature 600 rooms over 43 storeys and will include a glass-enclosed all-day restaurant, Chinese restaurant and a 3,100 m² health club and swimming pool with outdoor terrace. A fifth-floor roof garden will be available for weddings, events and as a conference pre-function area.
The two hotels will overlook a 3000m² central courtyard complete with pathways, gardens, water features and al fresco dining areas.
Shangri-La currently has one hotel operating in Shanghai's Pudong area.
