Fifteen new hotels open in Sharjah in first quarter of this year.

Fifteen new hotels opened in Sharjah in the first quarter of this year, Gulf News reports today.

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) said more hotels will open this year to accommodate an increased flow of tourists. The Emirate currently has around 7,000 hotel rooms and a total of 89 hotels and hotel apartments.

"Sharjah's commercial sector is rapidly developing and has so far this year witnessed the opening of a number of shopping malls and hotels. More malls and hotels will be opened later this year," SCTDA director-general Mohammad Ali Al No'man said.
