Bollywood actress will launch 'healthy, authentic' Indian ready meals in the New Year.
Shilpa Shetty, the Bollywood actress and model, is set to launch her range of Indian ready meals in Dubai in the New Year.
The celebrity said she was “very excited” about the new venture, which will bring a range of “healthy, authentic” Indian ready meals to people across the emirate.
“Hope to cater to all those people who enjoy delicious, healthy, authentic Indian food that will be convenient to cook!,” Shetty wrote on her blog.
“Hoping to launch this line of readymade meals after Christmas in Britain. Will be branching out to Dubai and Jordan by end of this year, and many more in years to come.”
Shetty and partner Raj Kundra have acquired a stake in the V8 Gourmet Group, one of the UK’s biggest Indian restaurant groups, which includes The Bombay Bicycle Club Kitchens, Tiffinbites, and Vama restaurants.
The company is set to open two Tiffinbites in Dubai “very shortly” and a spokesman confirmed to Arabian Business the ready meal range will launch in Dubai “sometime after the New Year.”
Shetty wrote: “Me being a self confessed foodie, also being synonymous with a healthy lifestyle, and to top it all being a Shetty, a surname associated with the food sector (pioneers in Udipi restaurants) in India, this was only a sign for us to think it right to invest and procure a 33 percent stake in V8.”
Shetty has appeared in nearly 40 Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films in her career. Her first leading role was in the 1994 film Aag.
She shot to fame in the UK after appearing in the British Celebrity Big Brother TV show in 2007, where she was embroiled in a racism row involving fellow contestants Jade Goody, Jo O'Meara and Danielle Lloyd. For all the latest retail news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
