Emirates SkyCargo is launching a twice-weekly freighter service to Frankfurt, as demand has outstripped the capacity available on its twice-daily passenger flights. The addition of the freighter service means that the carrier now has 450 tonnes of capacity per week between Dubai and Frankfurt."Our new services to Frankfurt are driven by escalating customer demand which is spilling over the belly-hold capacity in our double daily passenger aircraft to Frankfurt. Our experience across our network has been that our services act as catalysts, stimulating trade opportunities both inbound and outbound," explains Reinhard Coldewe, Emirates' cargo manager, North & Central Europe. The inaugural freighter flight will land at Frankfurt at 1700 on September 10th. Subsequently there will be a flight every Wednesday, using a Boeing 747-400 freighter, leaving Dubai at 08:10 and landing in Frankfurt at 1515. It will then depart at 03:55 the next day and touchdown at Dubai at 10:20. The second weekly freighter will take off from Dubai every Sunday at 08:40, reaching Frankfurt at 15:30 hours. It will turnaround the same day at 18:30 and return to Dubai at 02:00 on Monday. The carrier has designed the freighter schedule to allow shippers in Germany to quickly access the Middle East and the Far East, including Shanghai, from Frankfurt. Similarly, customers in China and Hong Kong will be offered quick freighter connections to Frankfurt. The key loads on the Frankfurt to the Far East routing are expected to be car parts, machinery, manufactured goods and industrial products heading. On the return run, the carrier will be predominately targeting shippers of high quality fashion, luxury foodstuff and other consumer goods."We take great pleasure in announcing the launch of our freighter services to Frankfurt, sharing as we do, very close trade and business ties with the city and the surrounding area. Coming so close on the heels of our new cargo services to Moscow and Auckland, we are positive that our twice-weekly freighter service to Frankfurt will further enhance the globalisation of Germany's trade and manufacturing sectors," says Peter Sedgley, Emirates' vice president, cargo commercial operations.
